We built BreezyRide because we kept running into the same problem: every time we planned a self-drive trip through Southeast Europe, useful rental information was either buried in ten-year-old forum threads, scattered across generic travel blogs, or hidden behind aggregator interfaces that told you the price but nothing about what to actually expect on the ground.

Practical guides written from the driver’s seat
Every guide on BreezyRide comes from actual rental experience in the region. We have picked up cars at airports where the agency desk was a folding table in the parking lot. We have negotiated cross-border fees in three languages. We have driven the Llogara Pass in Albania in a Fiat Panda that had no business being on a mountain road.
That first-hand experience shapes everything we write. When we say that renting in Antalya starts from 8 EUR per day in the off-season, it is because we have seen those prices ourselves. When we warn that Dubrovnik in July will cost you 50-75 EUR per day for an economy car, it is because we paid it. We include seasonal price ranges, not fantasy “from 1 EUR” marketing numbers. We mention the downsides – the potholed roads outside Tirana, the aggressive drivers on Istanbul’s ring road, the agencies in some resort towns that will try to charge you for scratches that were there before you arrived.
One page per city, everything you need
Most car rental content online follows the same pattern: a blog post that vaguely covers an entire country, or an aggregator that shows you a price without any local context. Neither is very useful when you are trying to figure out whether to pick up your car at Split Airport or in the city center, whether the motorway toll from Zagreb to the coast is worth it, or how the Neum corridor crossing works when you are driving a Croatian rental into Bosnia.

Country hub pages tie them together with nationwide information – insurance norms, fuel costs, toll systems, speed limits, and the quirks that apply everywhere in that country. You start at the country level, drill down to the city, and get everything in one place.
The ten countries we cover – Bulgaria, Greece, Turkey, Albania, Montenegro, Romania, North Macedonia, Croatia, Cyprus, and Serbia – share a set of rental market characteristics that make them worth covering as a region. Cross-border rules are a constant concern. Local agencies often undercut the international chains by 30-40 percent but come with their own trade-offs. Manual transmission is the default and automatics cost extra. Insurance products vary significantly. Understanding these patterns across the region is what gives BreezyRide its edge over a generic global comparison tool.
Transparent comparisons, honest advice
We are not a booking engine. We do not process reservations or collect payment. We are not a review platform with star ratings and user comments. What we are is a reference guide with affiliate links to comparison tools where you can check real-time prices and book directly.

We update pricing seasonally and add new cities as we cover more ground. If a city is not on BreezyRide yet, it means we have not rented there ourselves – and we do not write about places we have not driven.
